Wait, is this Jean Grey or Phoenix? If its Jean, I would go for Superman, but Phoenix might be a little tougher.

ok, i am a fan of both Jean and Superman, but he (or she) isnt the only super hero that fight for good and just, and we cant tell for sure he is the top one. For me every single super hero deserves the firt place, if the forum is about it. Thats why I believe that what realy is in dicussion is "Who is the most powerfull?" and that's Jean Grey.

As someone pointed out, this is about the *Greatest Superhero*, not the most powerful.
Since the day Superman was created, he has represented all that is good and just. The best qualities and ideals of humanity.
Therefore Superman will always be the greatest superhero of them all IMHO.

I love then Both, but nor superman or any other hero could beat her. The Phoenix can revive, absorb, re-channel, and preserve the life-force of any kind of life-form, meaning that she can take life energy from one person and give it to others, heal herself with the same life energy, or even resurrect the dead, since the Phoenix is the sum of all life and death. As Phoenix, Jean's powers escalate to an incalculable level: allowing her to rearrange matter at a subatomic level, fly unaided through space, survive in any atmosphere, and generate massive destructive blasts and atmospheric disturbances. She has Cosmic pyrokinesis power, which allows her to create, control, and manipulate cosmic fire which is very strong. Note that her cosmic fire is not dependent on oxygen, which means that she can ignite it under seemingly impossible conditions such as vacuum space or underwater. Her cosmic fire burns enemies by molecules, aided by her power to control molecularity. So, her cosmic fire will burn her enemies until they die or she extinguishes it by her own will. She manifests a "telekinetic sensitivity" (called "the Manifestation of the Phoenix") to objects in her immediate environment that lets her feel the texture of objects, their molecular patterns, feel when other objects come into contact with them, and probe them at a molecular level. She can also create stargates that can transport her to anywhere in the universe instantaneously. When she engages her Phoenix powers, Jean is surrounded in a flame-like energy corona that takes the form of a large bird of prey. As the Phoenix, Jean can resurrect herself after death and is unaffected by the passage of time. It should be noted that she isn't "borrowing" the powers of the Phoenix Force (as is perceived by some due to the fact that Jean was a host for the Force); Death itself has said that Jean is the rightful owner of those powers. Further evolution allowed her to actually become one with the Phoenix Force (as opposed to serving as its host) due to her status as an Omega-level mutant with unlimited potential, in which it was revealed that Jean was the White Phoenix of the Crown. As the White Phoenix, Jean can manipulate and control whole time-lines, as seen when she brought the alternate future of Here Comes Tomorrow into the White-Hot Room.

ok, jean grey has tons of power, but she absolutly SUCKS at defense. Superman just uses his superspeed, dodges all of jean's powers, and then crushes her head.
boom, superman wins.

I'm wondering if everyone is reading the topic properly. The Topic is "All Time Greatest Superhero", this is not a; This Hero VS That Hero thing....Superman Sets the bar for all other superheroes after. His greatness is in his humanity and ability to raise himself above any "god complex" he could have potentially developed. He loves his adopted planet and the people on it. He would do ANYthing to sacrifice himself for all (truth, justice and the american way thing you know?). Keep in mind too, that DC had to reduce his powers somewhat. Back in the 70's his powers were just...insane! He could do sooo much. a:Move so fast he could move through time, b: move..actually MOVE the planet c:He used to have a super computer brain and process information like brainiac 5 and on and on...he was crazy strong. He was the first among many and I think that alone should garner enough respect to put him as number one.
The closest to him in my opinion would be: The martian manhunter and Shazam. Both are extremely noble and Shazam came out nearly the same time as Superman...The manhunter has abilities that nearly rival Superman's and I wouldn't mind having...now...HE could possibly take out Superman. Manhunter could: Fly, Nearly invulnerable, Nearly as Strong as Supes, plus he has martian vision (still don't know what that is), invisiblity,intangiblity....and SHAPE SHIFTING while reading your mind as a telepath...not too shabby.

we"know"m its a GOAT issue, but the choices just don't fit- hence its more fun to go "fight club" on the issue- most of Marvels heroes are anti-heroes ,or people pushed into the hero status-like the Thing ,spidey,ghostrider,etc- they were NOT born into greatness like supes or Wonder woman, weren't offered it like G.L or seeking it like the flash. In terms of GOAT it would be 1) superman 2) Wonderwoman. 3) Capt america 4) Batman 5)Hulk 6)Iron Man 7) the flash 8) spider Man 9) green lantern 10) Ben grimm-the thing("yes" the thing!!!). This top "10" is based on positive character qualities strengths, weaknesses, ability to overcome in adversity, and willingness to fight the "good fight"- the rest of the characters here are NOT on that level and in terms of "hero worship" are severely lacking in the ability to "inspire" dept.....

can i add one simple thing. its quite clear that superman is the most powerful superhero in DC and that no human can beat him. what happens when a human becomes a sentient being, like phoenix. the so called superman cannot even beat galactus to start with, and the phoenix beat galactus, not even using this but...a phoenix that has no rival in terms of energy, matter and thought (she has complete control over them), why would superman want to try? you dont analyse properly so people just come up and say nonsense. about the movie, that was hollywood style of ending it, if jean had killed wolverine, who could kill her then. the movie would have been a flop. think before u write, it sure makes a lot of sense. ima devout of these 2 superheroes but phoenix surely has the upper hand. if u want to class superman, let him have a battle with onslaught

Theirs a reason dc avoids heros and villens with the powers like jean and prof x its the one major weekness in the top heros their all week when in comes to the mind sup would be a puppet its been proven many times before he can be sontroled and thats by other that arnt even that strong in mental powers jean would have sup on all 4s with a coller marked 'spot' or just leave him mind wiped and wimpering in some home for the mentaly damaged

First of all, and this message is to everyone. Your not even talking about what the question asked. Who is the greatest superhero of all time? It is obviously either Superman or HULK. All of this who would win in a fight stuff is either here nor there. No one is invincible, everyone has a punchers chance in a fight. It only takes one perfect shot to beat anybody.

Jean Grey would be no match for Superman. Jean Grey is too FRAGILE that she couldn't even manage to survive from that water outburst cause by the bursting water-dam. She got killed so easily on that event, where if on the other hand Superman could have easily survived that disaster. Jean Grey got Killed twice so easily in the Marvel movies. One from the water outburst from that busted water dam and the second from the weakling claws of Wolverine. Superman could never die from such water disaster and the claws of Wolverine wouldn't even manage to cut one single hair FUSS of Superman. YEAH Right! Dark Phoenix eats stars...LOL! How can she eat stars when she can't even survive a flood of water and the weak claws of Wolverine? As far as I'm concern, the Dark Phoenix character obviously CONTRADICTS its own logical stories, its powers, and abilities. SUPERMAN COULD NEVER DIE!!! And HE'S SUPER TO EVERYTHING!!!

YEAH the Dark Phoenix (NOT Jean Grey) WAS the most powerful of them all, but she's now DEAD… Killed by the claw of Wolverine… THE END of Jean Grey and THE END of the Dark Phoenix. Although I wonder how Wolverine killed the Dark Phoenix??? Perhaps Wolverine has no mind for the Phoenix to deal with. So it takes a REAL dummy with no brain to kill the most powerful character in the Marvel comics. I'm amazed, so dummies are very useful after all… I know they're useful in automobile crash test, but didn't realize they're useful in the Marvel comics for use in ridding their most powerful character. LOL!
