Bix: Top 10 Dogs Battle!: Golden Retriever vs Poodle

I've had both dogs. The Golden Retriever we had since he was a puppy, but after he died of cancer in 2005. I adopted a 4 year old Standard Poodle in 2006. My poodle is extremely smart and very protective of our house. I think he makes a better watchdog than the golden. My golden was more fun to play with outside and more of an independent dog, which was amazing, but my poodle is more dependent on me and needs constant attention, which gets annoying. The golden also didn't need as much grooming done, or rather there was less effort needed to put into his grooming. I like both dogs equally in their own ways. 08/04/2008 21:18

We have a goldendoodle (golden retriever/standard poodle mix). He is just the most amazing dog/child. He has the "scary" poodle intelligence and the very sweet golden disposition. It can't get better than that!!! He's so smart and so sweet. We have the best of both worlds! 03/14/2008 12:10

I own 2 Golden Retriever Poodle mix dogs. I have owned pure bread dogs before, but these two dogs are the smartest I have owned. My husband was not to keen on the idea of getting a poodle, so I suggested how about a mix. We have all the great personality traits of a golden, the smarts of both, and without the shedding. I have had both. The poodle was the smartest dog I have ever had (also had a collie and now have a boxer/hound mix which is still a pup). The poodle lived until he was 21, collie 20, golden is now 20, so I can say that I have been lucky enough to live A LONG time with them. All dogs are great dogs put the poodle was the stud. Didn't have a clue how small he was and all he wanted to do was please me. The only way someone could say a poodle is a priss is they haven't owned one plus they don't shed. 03/13/2008 16:20

Poodles are the smartest dogs ever! They rock! Goldens are cute, but poodles are cute, smart and very loyal. What more can you ask for?!?!? 03/13/2008 12:15

Both dogs are cute and fun to play with but i would have to with a Golden Retriever cause they are real good dogs and it dont take long to train them and the best part about the Golden Retriever is they are good house dogs!. 03/13/2008 11:33
