Awww...thank you so much for that wonderful comment, Monique...especially about my Dad...I'm so happy that I found this wonderful world of online karaoke and told him about it...He is having the time of his life doing this and so is his brother (Lenny) who is also on SingSnap. This really helps bridge the miles between them (my Dad lives in Vegas and his brother, my uncle, lives in New Hampshire!) and enables them to sing together as they did when they were so much younger!! I was a Radioman in the Navy for 8 years and like Starlew I went 4 years, got out and after about 2 years went back in for 4 more. Got married in my second stint and decided being on a ship away from home and family all that time was not going to be a good family life for me. I am a Patriot like you Lisa and know first hand we have the "greatest Military on the planet" just watch one of our aircraft carriers launch about 10 to 20 F-18s in a matter of moments at night in rough seas and you know its true. I still have yet to get through all the entries in this contest...I started listening to yours the other day and it cut out on me...I wonder why Bix is having so many problems with video playback! Anyway, my Dad was also a Radioman in the Navy for 4 years and then got out and worked for the government but finished out his remaining service years in the inactive Reserves. When I decided to join the military my Dad advised me NOT to go into the Navy as he, too, spent a lot of time at sea. Yes, watching our fighters take off at night is a sight to see...I'm sure it's even more impressive up close from the deck of those giant carriers! I used to watch the SR-71's take off out of Kadena Air Base, Japan at night and the thunderous noise of the engines and the bright glow of the afterburners was sooooo cool!! Anyway...Yes, I may have hung up my uniform but I, like you and all the other vets out there, will always stand tall as a proud veteran of the "greatest military on the planet!" Let me just start by saying you look WAY WAY too young to have been a SMSgt!!! You are very beautiful; the AF must have been good to you. I spent 15 years in the Navy then switched over to the AF where I got my Commission. Now I'm an 18 year 1Lt and it's a difficult place to be. It feels like starting over but with much better pay. You may not know it by my persona on bix, but I’m much the same as you as far as being introverted. I understand the comments you made about being at parties and not being able to strike conversations. People always think I’m a really serious person, that is till I have a few and start dancing or doing karaoke, and then it seems to get easier for me to loosen up. Once they start oohing and awwing I start to feed off of their energy. Bix provides this same type of release. Tops in Blue…pretty impressive! I wonder why everyone is having so many problems with the videos cutting off...I haven't had any problems viewing them from start to finish...I think you need to clear your cookies and files regularly to prevent that from happening. Anyway, thanks for the kind feedback...I used to wear business suits when I first started working as a contractor in the main building where our operations are run, but I now work at a small military site near my house where folks wear jeans most of the time -- very casual there! Sure did cut back on my dry-cleaning bills!! I love it!! Yes, I am shy when I'm at social gatherings where I don't know people and have no clue who they are, what they do, etc...but the Nashville thing was easy...those were folks I had already "met" online, listened to often, interacted with, etc...so it was almost like a reunion of sorts! Thanks so much...it was a little shaky because of my being all nervous and stuff....My brother bought me a new Audiotechnica condensor mic...don't have my glasses nearby to tell you the model number.
