We bought this on blue ray which give both endings where you watch the whole movie twice with each different ending. We (my husband and I) both agree that a mix of both would be good. We too were left with questions as to what next after the alternate. do they find the other servivors? We liked that he lived but we have not read the book but plan to. We also wondered why he did not get the blood sample for the cure before he gave the infected woman back? then at least be able to try to cure some of the infected. so many questions with the alternate ending. but the theatrical was good too but also very hollywood with the semi happy ending us americans love. but i beinga woman love happy endings most of the time but in this it could have been better either way.Still worth the buy being on blu ray it is visually stunning. 03/30/2008 23:32
Actually, Tamra, Will's character believes the zombie/vampire/mutants have no emotions but both endings prove him wrong. Both show the male making a butterfly(in broken window in theater version)(alt.version-making butterfly with his blood against the window0. Plus Will figures at some point they attacked him by setting him up with the dummy and catching him. The theater version he pretty much leaves it up to chance that the woman and child will make it to safety with his blood. 03/25/2008 01:10
my vote is alternate ending.it is really amazing when he has a guts to kill those bad people living in new york...actually he is very brave and he fights all those creepy human being.the alternate ending was the best. 03/19/2008 16:16
To me this ending should have been how it ended, with him finding a cure. For those who did not catch on to the young female that was cought by (Smith) was related to the leader of the dark seekers and wanted her back. Yes, there would have been a better understanding of the title had this been the ending. 03/18/2008 14:15
they start to show an Alternate ending, but they don't follow through with it, so how in the f*ck is someone supposed to really judge it when they can't see the whole thing. and still if they wanted to impress me they would have stuck to the book, the main woman would have at the last minute revealed she's an evolved vampire, one of many seeking to rebuild a new world order and that unfortunately their new laws mandate that old fashioned humans can not be a part of it but she wishes he could be with her, and thus the new world order kills him with the idea being presented that vampires were once legends to mankind, now mankind will be the legend to vampires, hence robert's final words before dying "I am Legend". now that's a great ending! 03/18/2008 10:20
it is rational from events of the film that the hero had chance to survive batter than to scrufies himself for nothing. u find antidote which will help in saving the world & u got chance to life to proceed that antidote for others so if no body there can do that & if there is we have to save time which will spend to anylaise to get antidote. 03/17/2008 23:13
in the alt. does the kv let them live? do they kill them? or is it all a precursor to a part two. will there be a dvd with the alt. ending? if so will it answer these questions?? 03/15/2008 20:13
Well,i seem to have liked the alternate ending better but I'm just curious, what happens next?Does anyone die? Will the dreaded virus ever be cured? 03/12/2008 17:42
I like the alternate ending better, I think it worked better in the context of this adaptation Neville Got to realise that the Death seekers were not the animals he made them out to be and on top of that they are also capable of Loving and Forgiving, Different from the book but it works better for this adaptation, I don't see how a sudden appearance of human like vampires at this point in the movie will make any sense, unless they had showed some scenes with him killing them all in their sleep. I think the suits needs to start giving audiences more credit, and quit coping out and feel they know what the audience can handle. 03/11/2008 12:27
